Site safety assessments
If there’s been a flood or fire, our 24-hour emergency electricians will conduct a risk assessment. This establishes whether or not the property is safe to work on. If it’s dangerous and they need to turn the power off, they’ll contact UK Power Networks and schedule a cut-off time. They can perform the electrical work needed to make the environment safe again.

Electricity Generators

All electrical safety testing, checks and inspections of fixed wire installations are carried out in the same way – through an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). When an electrician visits your home or business to carry out this report, they’ll test the permanent wiring throughout the property including every electrical circuit.
The EICR documents all the findings made during the electrical inspection, including any safety issues that make your installations non-compliant with IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671. These electrical safety checks are different from PAT testing, which is used for your portable appliances.

Electrical installation certificates
Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) show compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. You receive them for ‘notifiable’ work, such as adding a new circuit, upgrading a consumer unit, or making changes to a ‘special location’ (e.g. a bathroom, wet room, sauna, or swimming pool). Copies will also be filed with the local authority and NICEIC.
EICs are a vital electrical service because they demonstrate that your installations comply with regulations. You may even encounter difficulties selling your home without them. All work from our London electrical installers is signed off by one of our electrical managers, who also handle the notification process on your behalf.

Minor works certificates – book call-outs today
Not all work to an electrical installation needs an EIC. Minor works, for example, aren’t notifiable and will instead require a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC):
- Adding lighting points to an existing circuit
- Replacing the cables for a single circuit
- Fitting a replacement RCD or SPD
- New enclosures for existing installations
- Adding an electrical socket or fused spur
- Most electrical maintenance and repairs
- Some very basic work, such as replacing a like-for-like switch, won’t need an MEIWC.
